Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having chest pain off and on for several weeks. I went to my primary care doctor and she orderd a chest xray which was normal. The EKG was normal and so were my blood labs but I'm still feel like a knife going through my heart when I breath in or exert myself. She suggested I may have costochondritis but the chest xray was normal and gave me motrin 800 mg twice a day plus a muscle relaxer before bed for 5 days. Also, she recommended I see a cardiologist for a consult. I'm 49 years old, non smoker going through menopause and have a physical job where I'm on my feet all day and unload freight trucks once a week. My mother had heart disease until she died of lung cancer a few years back. I'm nervous that I have a block artery since the pain radiates up my neck.
