I Have Been Having Pain In My Lateral Ankle And

I have been having pain in my lateral ankle and now medial ankle that is unlike the plantar fasciitis I have experienced. The MRI only shows degenerative changes. Sometime it feels lie my ankle is going to give out. When I sit down it's like I want to curl my toes down and my foot is froze in a flat position When I flex it, it gives sudden intense pain. Sometimes when walking, it has some pain, but manageable until I get a sudden pain. I don't seem to have a rolling flexible movement of my foot, but more like set it down flat. I did have a steroid injection in it to see if it would help, but it doesn't seem to.
