I have been sick for 17 days now. It started as an upper sore throat that slowly escalated to an ear infection, over the coarse of four days, and what the doctor thought was strep throat on one side of my throat. I was prescribed a z pac and it helped the ear infection and sore throat. About three days after I finished the antibiotics the opposite side of my throat became swollen and painful, with small white spots on my tonsils. The next doctor I saw swabbed the non hurting side of my throat for a strep test and told me it wasn't strep, and that the spots were tonsil stones. Over the next few days the swelling went down, with the help of a salt water gargle. Now my upper throat is again sore and painful when i swallow. My nose is partly congested and I have a cough from drainage. I haven't had anything like this before and was lucky to not have had strep or tonsillitis growing up. Is it possible that it is strep or another type of infection or should I just not worry about it and hope that it goes away soon?
