I Have Been Suffering With Balance Issues, Short Term Memory

I have been suffering with balance issues, short term memory issues, right sided hemiparesis and speech difficulty for the last 16 months. My Neurologist told me I had epileptic activity in my brain. The onset of these symptoms was sudden when I suffered symptoms of a stroke. I still have these symptoms in spite of the seizure medication (lamotragine) and I am 62 years old. I never had these symptoms before to my knowledge. My real question is Could it be something else? My doctor is perhaps a very adept man but I feel he's not listening to what I'm saying and when he does, he doesn't believe me.
