I Have Benign Nodules On Both Side Of My Thyroid And Now Experiencing Lots Of Problems

I have benign nodules on both side of my thyroid dectected about 3 yrs ago. I am now having problems swallowing and I have a lot of other issues such as tiredness, lightheaded, hair loss, weight gain , bouts of depression, dry skin. Can the nodules affect the amount of hormones secreted?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

Nodules can be associated with hypothyroidism- that may be the reason for your symptoms. The nodules can be normal functioning, non functioning or over functioning. So everything depends on your thyroid function tests.

If i were your treating doctor I would have done the following tests:
Thyroid function tests, Ultrasound of neck, FNAC thyroid (Needle test)

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

With warm regards,
Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
Consultant Endocrinologist.
