I Have Dry Cough And Throat Ulcer. What Antibiotic Can I Take ?

I am now 19years old. First I like to inform you that I am a thalassaemic and is on regular blood transfusions and iron chelation. Now, from today morning I have dry cough and throat ulcer. My throat is paining. I am confused what antibiotic to take. As I am thalassaemic, I am already on Pennicillin 250mg (2tabs/day). Tab Novamox (Amoxilin) does not suit me as I suffered severe Diaorrahea before 1mth when I was advised the same for viral fever

far as Thalassemia is concerned no antibiotic is contraindicated. You can take any antibiotic which does not cause allergy to you. But do consult your family physician for your throat pain (or any problem other than Thalassemia). You can take treatment like any other non-Thalassemic, except IRON and Vitamin C (>100mg), which you must be knowing. You are on penicillin, seems that your spleen has been removed. After splenectomy, antibiotic (say Amoxicillin 500 with Lacobacilus or Erythromycin 500mg three times a day) must be started in any infection and consult your physician as early as possible
