I Have Experienced Iliofemoral Ligament Pain For Around A Year

I have experienced iliofemoral ligament pain for around a year (right hip/thigh). I don't remember any specific thing triggering this. I just started noticing twinges of sharp pain on the inside of my hip joint, and the pain has increased. I can no longer cross my right leg over my left and the pain has become a nearly constant deep ache in my right thigh. I am 51 y o female, with a number of other medical issues (diabetes, hi bp controlled with meds, low platelet count up to 100 now, cirrhosis of the liver with no varices or ascitis & chronic slightly elevated liver enzymes). My GP referred me to an orthopedic doctor. I used to see a hematologist about the platelet count and some chronically enlarged lymph nodes that she monitored for a couple of years. Does an orthopedist sound like the right referral? Is this likely to be a complete tear to be bothering me increasingly for this long?
