Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had 2 knee replacements in the last year and a half on the same knee. They found out I had a nickel allergy with the first and it never grew in. I had a pressfit knee with no cement and had a revision this year on Feb. 12th. I am still having pain and swelling and had the metal allergy testing redone. I was allergic last time to benzoyl peroxide and hydroquinone in the cement, but they thought it would be ok. Now I have developed an allergy to accrylates in the current cement that I wasn't previously allergic to. I have talked to my surgeon and he said there is not a knee made in the US that can cover both allergies. I am reaching out to see if anyone knows of anything else that might work or any research being done in case it starts loosening over time. Thanks. I am 56 and a female.
