Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had GI issues my entire life. I had a HIDA scan done in Jan 2012 and it showed 37% ejection fraction. I have gastroporesis, gastritis and chronic constipation. November 2015 I was in the ER for extreme upper right quadrant pain. The bedside ultrasound showed no stones (per the physician) and I refused other testing due to insurance. I saw my GI specialist Jan 2016 and he gave me 40mg Omeprazole daily to rule out ulcers. The pain had been getting worse and worse. I went back early February 2016 and had an EGD done. It came back abnormal, but normal for me. I had an ultrasound of the gallbladder done within the same week which showed I had a gall stone. My GI specialist wants me to have another HIDA scan done. I'm frustrated. If my HIDA scan from 2012 was borderline abnormal and now I have a gall stone, why would he want me to have another HIDA done? It's costly and I would think he would just remove the gall bladder? I am 23 years old. I feel miserable. He's not giving me anything for pain. I feel like this has been long and drawn out and I'm confused.
