I have had a hissing sound in both ears for the last 10-15 years. I am currently a 72.5 year old caucasian man. I have experienced pressure in both ears, but more so in the left than the right. Yawning or stretching my mouth will sometimes pop my right ear. The left ear is always plugged. My hearing is acceptable in the right ear - although weaker than it should be. My left ear hears distorted sounds that sound like a person talking through a comb and tissue paper so it confuses what I hear. I have on 4 occasions experienced vertigo about a year apart between episodes, resulting in nausea and vomiting lasting up to 2 hours (the nausea and vertigo, not the vomiting). Audiologist are no help, only wanting to sell hearing aids. I think something is causing pressure on the cochlea of the left ear where I feel a constant pressure. Both ears feel plugged up, but yawning only clears (partially) the right ear with seemingly no effect to the left ear. Your insights would be greatly appreciated. I did have a head MRI done 1.5 years ago but have not had a physian look at it. Do you think anyone can tell anything from an MRI scan of the tissues in the head? Thanks for your help.
