Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a long weekend so far with my ear but there is a semi good part. I had a very very small piece of rock fall out from that ear which relieved some of the pain( could be from sliding into bases. Then my coach was like could you be allergic to the material of the tubes because it happend to his daughter, so I called the on call person from my ent and they told me to try some Benadryl. I did and within an hour was feeling soooo much better like hardly any pain just feel the fluid moving around and my ears started making noises like they were trying to clear which hasn't happened. So my question is can we assume that I might be allergic to the material in the tube and maybe try switching to a different type of tube to see if that help. My ent had said I had a blockage right behind my ear drum on my ct and I might need surgery but wouldn't trying to switch the tubes to a different material be a better route to try first, especially if the benadrly is helping so much. I'm hoping this could be the reason( I have been allergic to tons of things in the past that people said Its rare to but I am) please let me know what you think. I also just got the ct results back. It said Soft tissue/fluid partial opacification of the left middle ear cavity and Right mastoid fluid with small amount of right middle ear fluid. So does it sound like maybe I should ask her if we can try different tubes that might drain better?
