Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had large tonsils that i have had issues with since i was very young. I have also suffered/suffer greatly with repeated ear infections resulting in peferations of the ear drum. I have been to see ENT many times and many people have reccomended i have a tonsilectomy. I'm now 20, and about two weeks ago i was scheduled and ready to have my tonsils removed when the surgeon canceled because she believed i did not need a tonsilectomy. I am going to get a second oppinion but i wanted to ask what you think. I have been told continously by many consultants that my tonsils are large, the surgeon i saw said they are 'moderate' i am also wondering how (without a swab) i can identify if i have a viral or bacterial infection, as the surgeon said i need approx. 6-7 cases of tonsilitus to be elligible for surgery.
I am not sure how to attach a photo. But i have attached as a report
