I have identical twin boys age 3 1/2. The have been very healthy since birth, rarely on antibiotics, until about 8 months ago, we put them in daycare/preschool. They were home with our nanny and my wife during that time. Since entering preschool, they have had their fair share of coughs, colds, low grade fevers, and the occasional high fever, but all consistent with being around lots of kids...many of whom always have runny noses. One of the twins has the right lymph node on his neck that has been enlarged, probably for a few weeks now, maybe longer. We are making an appointment with our pediatrician for this week as I'm just concerned it's not going away. He's had no change in his appetite, or losing weight, or sleep habits etc. and just a constant runny nose and cough. I had severe allergies as a child and still do, and think the twins have them as well. We have great pediatricians, so I know he'll get checked out, and get great care, but I'm just concerned it could be something serious. Is there anything we should be paying particular attention to that might shed some light on it? Is it common for kids to have this and it not go away in a reasonable amount of time? Thank you
