I have irritable bowel syndrome, and having diahrrea between 3-6 times a day is something I've endured for more than a decade. The doctors never seemed concerned because I'm healthy otherwise. But then when I got pregnant, my diarrhea increased to 10-12 times a day and has become very bothersome, preventing me from working or leaving the house sometimes. I also have had nonstop vomiting and nausea since a week before I found out I was pregnant. I went from eating almost 2000 calories to eating hardly any. If I get a few hundred in, that's good. Ive tried everything to stop the nausea and vomiting. Nothing has worked. I've been losing weight, but the doctors seem unconcerned because I was already overweight and the baby seems healthy. However, I even have trouble drinking water, and I'm in my fourth month. I think the baby needs nutrition. I called the doctor again and they recommended taking immodium a+d and wrote me a prescription for zofran, which hasn't stopped the nausea or vomiting; it has simply given me headaches, a stiff neck, no energy, and slowed my diarrhea to 5 or so times a day. I didn't like feeling like I was going to die, like I did on the meds, so I'm off them now. The diarrhea hasn't gotten as bad as it was, neither has the vomitting, which is down to about 5 times a day depending on how often I eat. I am beginning to drink water again, too. I'm getting in a little food, but it comes out in less than 5 hours. And, no, it is not lactose intolerance because I never drink milk, only almond milk. I'm not sure if the doctors should react more or if there's anything more they can do. I have had the bloody, mucusy, and pure liquid stool ( if you can even call it that ), but I can't even keep track anymore. And, I feel exhausted all the time. I want to avoid making a big deal or parading into a hospital and demanding fluids, but I am not sure what my next option is.
