I Have Recently Had A Very Bad Reaction To Germentin

I have recently had a very bad reaction to Germentin ( amoxicillin/ clavuclanic acid). I had diarrhoea, severe cramps, black stools nausea, but worst of all was heightened anxiety, and felt like I had no control over my terrible thoughts. Nightmares etc. I was a mess. I was to take the antibiotic for seven days but by five days I stopped taking them. My sinus infection was cleared up by then. I returned to my doctor Monday and he said that it was a most awful reaction, that it had really messed up my system. I felt I was going mad. He put me on anti anxiety tablets on a sliding scale over six weeks.
My question is how long does it take the effects of the antibiotic to leave my system and will the anxiety finally leave me, I really just want to feel normal again. I am a Carer for my husband who has spinal problems and lives with chronic pain. Can you help?
