I Have Recently (within The Past 5 Days) Been Experiencing

I have recently (within the past 5 days) been experiencing joint pain, primarily at night, where the metatarsal and phalange of my right great toe articulate. Prior to this, I have experienced pain in the joint where the metacarpal and trapezium articulate in my right hand. The pain in this thumb area is more intense at night and occasionally radiates to my other fingers causing great distress. It can occur during the day if I'm writing or typing extensively. I find it interesting that this is only occurring on my right side. I am right hand dominate. I am 69 years of age, but in good health and weight. Is this osteo-arthritis? Why is only my great toe affected as well? Could this also be osteo-arthritis or possibly gout? I've never had a Uric acid problem in the past.
