I Have Taken Dexilant For Many Years. I Recently Read

I have taken Dexilant for many years. I recently read in your literature that it usually takes about 4 weeks to heal a problem, so I stopped taking it. I have been having stabbing, burning sensation just below my breasts. I tried taking Ranididine 75 mg 2x/day and it didn't help. Today I tried 150mg. It helped this morning, but now it burns again. Why does the Dexilant paperwork say to just take it for 3-4 weeks? What are the bad long term side effects if I keep taking it?
