Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I need my son to be seen by a specialist to possibly diagnose a learning disorder. He has been referred to a neurologists who treated me in hospital but gave a wrong diagnosis. So I already have a trust issue. My son has a hard time ordering and focusing. He is adopted and we never received a medical history for him. He is 14. The neurologists that saw him the first time at 7 years diagnosed him as ADHD in 5 minutes. Surely a diagnosis like this can't be made in less than 5 minutes? His problem has been getting worse over a period of time. Now we have anger outbursts to cope with as well. He is definitely self medicating. He will be getting a bevy of blood works tomorrow. To us he is the most important person in our lives. I always helped him with his schoolwork and he received an academic achievement reward from the White House. he does well when playing golf or being outdoors Scouting. It feels as if we are chasing our own tails and are not getting proper first world advice. There must be a specific order in which a diagnosis should happen and referrals to proper qualified registered health care workers, whether neurology, psychiatry, occupational therapy or military school! ( I do not want to pay for a monthly subscription) I just want some advice
