I Reinjured An Ankle That I Sprained About Ten Years

I reinjured an ankle that I sprained about ten years ago, I was foolish and never rested it or sought medical care, it has never been the same, did not hurt it near as bad but I have some tingling in one of my toes and pulling along the outer side. When I flew it outward it hurts this happened 2 weeks ago why?
