I smashed my right thumb in a truck door a few weeks ago. The nail has now separated from the bed on one side and through the middle, still slightly attached on the right. There is no pain or tenderness, but starting yestersay the stored up blood and liquid is escaping, with a horrible smell. I have been flushing the nail and under with alcohol and water. I am concerned about serious infection, or will this work itself out? Otherwise I am a healthy and not on any medication. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
