I Sustained First Degree Burns On My Face And Arms

I sustained first degree burns on my face and arms from a gas grill blast on Monday. Fortunately, my son-in- law, is an MD(although dermatology is not his specialty) and was visiting this weekend. He triaged me with cold compresses to lessen the potential damage and recommended 400mg of ibuprophen. Today, some of the areas on my face and arms are now blistering. Additionally, my face and arms are swollen. Since he was leaving today, he recommended that I follow up with my dermatologist, which I just did. I was able only to see the P.A. She prescribed 5mg of prednisone in a decreasing dosage for the swelling as well as Ultravate cream. My son-in-law told me that he further researched burn treatment when he got home this afternoon, and that systemic and glucocorticoids are not indicated for first and limited second degree burns. But as I have previously mentioned, dermatology is not his area of expertise and therefore recommended a second opinion from someone more versed in thermal injury.
