Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took bupropion XL for about 1.5 years to help with weight loss and it worked like magic. But, I stupidly stopped taking it and gained the weight back over a few years. I tried taking it again, but perhaps it wasn't the XL version and I had the side effects of a racing heart beat (lasting a few seconds) and quick spells of dizziness. I went to a cardiologist and there were no cardiac findings...but I had stopped taking the medication the day before I went to the cardiologist because I saw that my symptoms might've been side effects. I have never had a recurrence since stopping the med.
However, I'm in a panic about my weight gain and would like to take it again...and I'd only take the XL type since I know I have taken it before with great results. Based on this information, do you advise that I never take bupropion again at all? Or just be sure I take XL since I know I can tolerate it?
Thank you!
