I Visited A Female Friend Of 32 Years..she's Coming Up

I visited a female friend of 32 years..she's coming up 70 & I wanted to see her before her party..because it will be crowded. She showed me her new kitchen. Her husband was in the living room watching footy with her son, but he could hear our conversation. This husband does not ever cook. Will only do BBQ if a crowd. So my friend shows me how the stove area is bigger than she had before & pull out saucepan drawer which was full. But, there on the top of cooker is a set of 5 new saucepans. She says "oh they're only for display not to use". Now this lady is a fabulous cook, I was surprised. Then husband came in & said "well...this set cost $500". I saw so.."my son bought me a Dutch oven & I know it was nearly $200, but I would never not use it". The husband walked out. I know my friend wants to say something, but obviously is careful. It's a second marriage for both. About 36 years. Do you think this guy is controlling? Thanks. Kate
