I Was Advised By My Doctor To Take 5mg Regrestron

I was advised by my doctor to take 5mg regrestron to delay my periods but because my periods started earlier than expected I started taking the meds on the first day of my menses. I took 2 5mg pills twice a day, totalling 4 pills a day in order for them to be more effective. The period has stopped now but my question is should I continue with the dosage my doctor advised earlier or continue with taking 4 tablets a day? I'm worried that if i reduce the strength the meds won't be as effective and my periods will start again. please advice
