I was on Yasmine birth control pills for around 3 years and I just stopped taking it last April. Before starting taking pills, I always had normal and regular period cycles. After stopping the pills in April, I did not have my period and I tested a a couple of times for pregnancy, but I am not pregnant. Now when I went to my gynecologist, he had me do a blood test that tested for Prolactin and TSH. My prolactin level came back at 40 (high) while my TSH was in the normal range. He gave me Primolut N (2 pills per day) for 5 days and I did not get my period 7 days after stopping it. I went back to my doctor and he is just prescribing me to take Dostinex which he said will lower my Prolactin level in a month. I am worried that he has not done other tests of LH, FSH and PCOS hormones to see if there are any other reasons for missing my period. Do you think it is ok to start with lowering Prolactin without the other tests for now and if I don't get my period I go back for the other tests? Or is he being short sighted by only fixing my prolactin?
Thank you!
