Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Phentermine as a diet pill by my general practitioner because I wanted to get my BMI down to normal. I had 15 more pounds to lose and he doubled the dosage. I hallucinated on the drug, was sleeping in my car and was seen by a psychiatrist who then prescribed Risperidone to help me get over the side effects of the Phentermine which was in my system. I have been on Risperidone 0.5 mg for about 8 months. The psychiatrist is stating that he would like to discuss the benefits of staying on Risperidone. I am not hallucinating, have never heard voices, do not see people that are not there and can't understand what benefits this drug could provide for me past the one year mark he originally prescribed. Why would he keep me on a drug? He has not told me my diagnosis and quite frankly, I want to know my diagnosis before I condsider staying on this drug indefinitely.
