I Was Recently Hospitalized For Acute Renal Failure And Jaundice.

I was recently hospitalized for acute renal failure and jaundice. I was severely dehydrated, and had gallstones blocking the common bile duct. Gall bladder was removed, and I received lots of fluids to resolve the dehydration. Kidney function was at 55% when I was released. The doctor took me off of valsartan and gave me amlodipine, saying it was not as tough on my kidneys. I have pretty severe swelling of ankles and feet. What other drug might be a good option instead of the amlodipine?
