I went to a doctor in january about a suspected bacterial infection on the lower lid of my eye (left eye only). Excessive localized scaling lead to a bleeding sore and scabbing. I was prescribed an oral and a topical antibiotic for seven days. It took longer than that to heal but eventually it did. Around that time the same condition seemed to appear on the right half of my upper lip. Not as severe, it was dry, felt numb, or dulled to the touch, as if covered by dead skin cells. It was also accompanied by a very slight, uncomfortable tingling sensation. I didn't go back to the doctor about it and nine months later, the condition persists still, localized on my right upper lip. When I exfoliate my lips, the affected area still has tiny white scale, and lately actively peeling it causes raw skin to be exposed and is painful. 1% mupirocin ointment applied nightly alleviates it but has not cured it.
