I have been diagnosed with ibs a few months ago. I was prescribed citalopran last Friday 3 August and since them I have had tremendous cramping under right rib cage and chronic diarrhoea for past 4 days and it s causing me havoc! I have had umpteen blood tests, ultra sounds, CT scan , colonoscopy etc and diagnosed with ibs.
hi,
thanks for choosing hcm,
yes alternate diarrhoea and constipation may occur in ibs(irrespective of medication and diet)
lomotil tablet can help you reduce diarrhoea(but dont use it always)
Lifestyle changes can help in some cases of IBS. ex: regular exercise and improved sleep habits may reduce anxiety and help relieve bowel symptoms.
Dietary changes can be helpful. However, no specific diet can be recommended for IBS, because the condition differs from one person to another.
Talk with your doctor before taking over-the-counter medications.
No one medication will work for everyone
hope i answered your query
feel free to contact me for further queries
thank you
