Idiopathic Cardiopathy And AICD. Pain And Swelling Due To An Infected Tooth. Will This Affect The Heart?

I have idiopathic cardiopathy among other heath issues. I also have an AICD. I have had an infected tooth for over 6 months now. I am experiencing pain and swelling. My inquiry regards concern over my heart. Could this tooth infection "attack " my weakened heart? My EF is up to 3
5-40. I am scheduled to have tooth removed next month. Should I try sooner? Thank you. Dea

Dear Sir
Thanks for writing to us.
1. Any infection in body should be dealt promptly in any persons; especially if you have low EF, you must not challenge your heart with any infection.
2. The risk of infection going to heart, infective endocarditis, is highest with tooth infections but as per current thinking, the predisposing heart conditions with highest risk are not there in your case. An AICD was classified as low risk in previous classifications.
you must discuss this issue with your dentist and cardiologist , on priority, and proceed accordingly.
