If One Is Having Pain In Right Flank Area ...not

If one is having pain in right flank area ...not continuous.
When a movement to stand or sit or lie down there is a strong pain of griping....the type that brings you to the right and downwards. It feels as though I'm having spasms with it. Then it slowly eases.
I thought perhaps I had a pulled muscle when it started and that it would gradually ease with heat/ice. However, it hasn't.
Any idea what this could be????
