Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ill start off by saying i think i may have a collapsed vein in my right wrist. I was in the hospital recently and had iv in my hand. I was getting a “newer” antibiotic that is closely related to penicillin and begins with an A, sorry forget what its called. I am teling you this because i am allergic to penicillin. But after a day or so the iv got really painfull and my hand swelled up like a balloon. It took a while for the nurses to switch the iv because they didnt think it was a big deal or something i guess. It was swollen for several hours before they finally switched iv sites. After a few more days when the swelling went down nd hand was normal i noticed a couple hard lumps on the top of my wrist. I think its the veins nd they feel hard and look a little bruised. Recently at work ive been painting at work and putting some pressure on that wrist and the pain is getting worse and the black and blue seems a little worse also. Its has been a little over a month since i had that iv in. Any idea whats going on here? Thanks for the help.
