Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 19 years old. Toward the end of July I decided I needed to start losing weight. at the time I weight 268-269lbs. I started to diet and exercise. when I first started to diet my calorie intake was probably 1400 and my exercise consisted of just walking 2 miles after every meal. After my first week of diet and exercise I lost 13lbs. I was happy to see such results. I figured it was mainly water weight, but I was so happy to see a difference on the scale. after the second week I my total loss was 21lbs. I began to start jogging after that. I would jog 1 mile in one direction turn around, walk half a mile back, then end up back home with a jog. I did that twice a day. After one month of doing this I have lost 38lbs. I never really paid much attention to my calorie intake and how it was changing because I never really felt hungry. I downloaded an app to track my calories and it turns out I was only averaging 800-1000 calories a day. I know this isn't healthy. I've heard of people losing weight too quickly and ending up with saggy skin. I absolutely do not want that whatsoever. My goal weight is 190lbs. My question is.. Do you think I should stop losing for a few weeks and instead do muscle resistance training to build muscle while eating more? Or should I do the same amount of exercising while eating more? Or do smaller amounts of cardio and do a lot more muscle training for a few weeks and eat a little more while I wait for my skin to tighten up?
