Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm on post OP day 10 after TE tonsillectomy. 34 year old adult F patient. When swallowing I feel an anomaly on right side of back throat. When I talk what feels to be a chunk or flap of tissue is setting off my gag reflex, making me gag and salivate. This tissue feels to be below the point of extraction just above where an Adam's apple would be on a Male. I cannot see far enough down my throat upon inspection to notice anything irregular. I've taken ibuprofen to reduce any swelling and tried to stomach cold ice water to keep hydrated, but all of this gagging is making me nauseous. My ENT's nurse doesn't seem to think there's any concern. Please help!
