I'm Putting My 14 Year Old Bichon To Sleep Tomorrow
I'm putting my 14 year old bichon to sleep tomorrow and am very concerned about the process. She's very fearful of vets and I'm concerned she'll be highly stressed throughout the process. I've heard about the 2 injection method but I've also spoken to the vet nurse who recommended giving her an oral sedative so she's calmer. The sedative would take 20 minutes to work she said but I'm worried it won't work well enough to stop her struggling when the catherter goes in. Would she be better off forgoing the oral sedation and then being heavily sedated to the point of unconciousness for the second needle? Or can she have the second sedation after having the oral sedation? Please give me the best case scenario
