Implication Of Transvaginal Ultrasound Result Of Hormonal Imbalance?

My laboratory results of pregnancy tests are negative but my period is late, 5 days in specific. I had my transvaginal ultrasound and found out that I have cysts, thin lining of uterus, and my left ovary has indications of hormonal imbalance. What does it implies? Please answer asap :)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The transvaginal ultrasound findings are suggestive of polycystic ovarian syndrome. It is due to hormone imbalance caused by increased production of androgens and low levels of estrogen. I recommend a gynecologist consultation for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
