In 2008, 2011, and 2016 I had surgery to the lumbar (L1 to L5) and thoracic (T12 to T10) regions. I have several rods and screws. Recently I started suffering from severe pain in my right leg. My doctor suggested I get an EMG which I did. The EMG doctor said I had a lot of nerve damage from all the back surgery I've gone through. Now my right leg is growing weaker and I have severe cramping, both in the upper and lower regions of the back of my leg mostly at rest or during the night. I have gone to physical therapy and it does not help, and I have also had back injections, I am taking gabapentin and hydrocodone, as needed for pain. Week by week it is getting worse. I have been told there is not much I can do about the nerve damage; but is there something I can do to keep out of a wheelchair? BTW - I am a 74 YO male, 128 lbs, 5' 5 1/2", BMI is on target for my age.
