In September 2015, My Gynecologist Advised Me To Begin Taking

In September 2015, my Gynecologist advised me to begin taking calcium + Vitamin D (800 UI in each tablet) as a bone health supplement due to me no longer taking birth control pills. I already take a multi-vitamin which includes 600UI of Vitamin D. About two months after, I began having severe joint pain (ankles, knees, hips and shoulders) so I started taking 1 calcium + Vitamin D a day instead of two. The pain continued so I stopped the calcium + D pill and now only take the multi-vitamin. I still have some stiffness and pain, but now I am concerned about not getting enough calcium. How much of each (calcium and Vitamin D) should I take a day? And could the joint pain have been caused by the calcium + Vitamin D supplements?
