In just a few hours yesterday I developed what I thought was a zit the size of a pea on my chin. I've never been prone to acne or breakouts my entire life. today the whole right side is severely swollen. I tried to drain it but minimal clear liquid comes out and its very painful to touch. Is this more than a zit?
I can understand the concern for the eruption on your chin area. You have not mentioned your age, occupation and any relevant history which could have guided us to the nearest possibility.
Even then I can make out two possibilities:
1. Folliculitis: due to inflammation of hair root and oil gland on chin.
2. Herpes simplex: due to viral infection .
If the eruption is having small vesicles then it can be heroes. I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem.
You should preferably meet a dermatologist who can examine you physically and provide you the best treatment.
Take care.
