In What Position Must One Sleep After A Laparotomy?
Hi just had a laparotomy side to side bikini line...was discharged from hospital today...finding a comfortable and safe position to sleep in is proving to be a challenge...which ever way I try...feels like I am pulling on my stitches. Any suggestions of safe positions? Thanks.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Best position after laparotomy for sleeping is supine position (on the back). Don't sleep on sides or in prone position (back up). As they can harm stitches. So sleep in supine position with back on the bed. You can keep pillows besides your stitch line to prevent damage. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
