Hello,

Your Post prandial blood sugar is very high.
You may need to make some alteration in your insulin regimen.
Levemir is a long acting insulin with 24 hrs action. It takes care of the basal insulin and no roll in controlling the postprandial value.
So you may take Levemir at night and add short acting insulin before every major meal.
This may help you control your blood sugar better.

Hello,
Your blood sugar levels are highly uncontrolled and your treatment seems to be going in wrong direction.I hope and presume that you are type 2 diabetic.Although you are taking a long acting basal insulin, but nothing is being done to take care of your requirement for bolus insulin requirement. It can be easily taken care of by using various oral insulin secreatagogues like sulfonylurea ureas and GLIPTINS.
Consult your doctor for the prescription of these drugs.
Along with proper medications, dietary control, you require a regular aerobic exercise regime for at least 45 minutes a day.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
You are having Diabetes type II and have uncontrolled blood sugar level.

Diabetes is disease in which there is insulin resistance and decreased production of insulin as you are already taking basal insulin Levemir which is good insulin.

In addition to basal insulin you may need short acting insulin along with the major meals ( Lunch and Dinner). Dose of short acting insulin can be adjusted according to blood sugar level.
It would be great if you have glucometer and monitor glucose at home. HbA1c level would give idea about control of blood sugar level for last 2-3 months.
Please take care of diet taking 25 Kcal/ kg body weight and avoiding simple sugar and food with high glycemic index would help.

You may want to take help of Dietitian regarding this.
Regular walking exercise also improves insulin sensitivity as well as peripheral utilization of glucose.

Please consult your Physician/Endocrinologist for proper prescription.
Hope this helps.

Take care.
Good Luck.

Dear sir/madam

You have mentioned blood sugar levels such as 324 mg/dl, is it fasting or post prandial or random sugar levels. You just need to proceed with glycated hemoglobin levels.
You can continue taking injection levemir and metformin. but try to add one more drug of different class. Try to assess the betacell function by measure fasting c peptide levels

Thanks
