Increasing Pain In Vaginal Area. Doctor Found A Cyst Outside The Cervix. What Could It Be?

Hi Doctor, I ve had an increasing pain in my vaginal area (now for 9 months) and I thought initially of cervical cancer so I went for a pap smear 5 months ago. During the examination the doctor found a cycst just outside the cervix and he mentioned to a fellow medic that it is in the 10-12 region. The pain seems to be much less just after my period. What is this? What do you think is going on? Betty
