Increasing Weight After Taking Radioactive Iodine Treatment For Graves Disease, No Control Over Appetite. What Should Be Done?
I had radioactive iodine treatment for Grave's disease. I have gained about 100 lbs. I am so disappointed and wish I would have never had the treatment. The doctor told me I would only gain about five pounds. I have no self control over my appetite. I have a big appetite, but dieting does not work. I do not want to be on anymore pills. Please tell me what to do.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Get checked for your thyroid profile, sugar level and lipid level. Consult nutritionist for calculating the calorie requirement and how to control diet with more calorie and to replace with zero calorie food and also optimize exercises. There are drugs to reduce absorption of food. Consult your doctor for examination and management with the above investigation report. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit
