Infant Feeds Well During The Day But Takes Longer During Night. Suggest?

My baby feeds real well during the day but when it comes to night she is very had to settle. I am breast feeding and she would sit on the breast for 5 hours if I let her. How do I know if she is really hungry or is suffering wind. Just nursing her only settles her for a short while.
First time Mum. My baby is 9 days old and has done this every night since she was born

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

It is very common for infants to suckle for a long time even though they may not be feeding. They get the comfort of being close to their mother. If your daughter is passing urine at least 4-5 times in 24 hours then be rest assured that she is having adequate feeds. When you go for your next check-up you will be able to record the weight gain.

Infants tend to trouble their mothers more during the night time rather than the day time and would be happy being close to the mother.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.

Regards,
