Infant With A Reddish Line From The Thigh To Knee. No Injuries. Could This Be From Blood Poisoning?
Hi, My 9 month old son has a red line on the side of his leg going from his upper thigh to his knee .. I thought it might have been an indent from his pajamas but its not going away and it doesn t fade when i put pressure on it. Should I call my doctor and have him seen today? I know a red line can indicate blood poisoning but he hasn t had any cuts or anything.
I can understand your concern. However you have not mentioned from when is the red line present and whether there is any pain. Such a line is not due to blood poisoning but any inflammation at the knee can give rise to inflammed lymphatics which may appear as red lines. There should be some pain around the area. I suggest you do hot fomentation and observe. If there is no improvement then consulting your doctor would be appropriate.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
