Infant With Cold, Chest Congestion. Prescribed Sinarest, Otrivin Pediatric Spray. Are These Medicines Safe?
Hello Doctor My little daughter has been caught with cold . She is one month old and i feel she has a problem of chest congestion along with running nose . I am giving her Sinarest AF syrup along with Otrivin Pediatric nasal spary as per doctor suggestion. I need your opinion about these medication. Should we continue with that or we should consult other doctor.

Thank you for your query,
As your child is having cold you can give her Sinarest AF oral drops as advised by your Pediatrician and the nasal medication should be used only for 3 to 5 days and if you use more than that it will cause cause rebound nasal congestion.
Instead for prolonged use you can use saline nasal drops for nose block.

Your baby is having respiratory infection,you can give sinarest drops as prescribed.but i will suggest you to give saline nasal drops 4 to 5 times a day instead of otrivin pediatric drops which are to be used for shot period usually 3 to 4 days as there prolonged use causes rebound congestion.
Continue with breast feeding,
Your baby will be fine.
