Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi

Relax. Why were blood counts done? Did she have any fever?

Usual cause of increased white cell count is infection.
Infection anywhere in the body like respiratory infection/ ear infection/ gut infection/ urinary infection etc can cause elevated white cells.

Relative Lymphocytosis is normal in infants.

Please feel free to get back with her symptoms and the reason for doing her counts.
Best wishes.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
HI
Thanks for query.
wBC count is done to see any underlying infection or to see bone marrow disorder.
normal count of white blood cells is higher in infants and there is lymphocytic predominance upto 8 yr of age. This is only one reading,as you said another test will be done next week.lets see those reports as well.
your daughter will be fine.
take care
