Infant With Hives And Fever. Nebulization Done. Taking Augmentin For Ear Infection. Allergic To Medication?
my friend has a baby (12mths old) he has experienced hives and temps of 103 degrees over the pass few weeks and has only been known to have a cold or runny nose. The last time (a week) ago he had to have nebulization performed 3x's and he was prescribed with augmentin - for an ear infection and she had been giving him cataflam - for the fever. Could it be that he is allergic to any of these medications? How can one assess if their child has drug related allergies?
Hello, The 12 months old child is having respiratory infection, running nose, temperature and Ear infection. The baby is treated by Antibiotic, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which takes of fever also, and Nebulizer for bronchospasm. Hives are usually the result of an allergic reaction. But allergy need not be there always. Acute hives can come with allergy (virus) or allergic triggers like fever, exposure to the sun etc., which will not last more than 6 weeks. Drug allergy producing Hives is rare Treating her other illness, and once the severity of other symptoms reduces the hives will automatically disappear. Nothing to worry about Liking the Child a speedy recovery Best wishes
