General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello dear
thanks for your query at HCM
injection site reaction are more common with bcg vaccination
usually bcg vaccination site heals with scar formation after 6 to 12 weeks
some times child may have prolonged ulceration , supppurative lymphadenitis, at the site of the injection
if there is local abcess and pus discharge from the site it should be aspirated it will clear spontaneously after that
if not cleared after aspiration it should be incised and treated with isoniazid powder for local application.
get your child examined by pediatrician and determine wheather it is a ulcer , abcess, or pus and take treatment accordingly as mentioned above
hope this information will help you

Pediatrician Dr. Irshad H Naqvi's  Response
Hi dear
Welcome to the Health care Magic

BCG scar is quite common. Almost this scar is expected in every child to happen, Called as takeup of BCG vaccine.

Occasionally this scar is gives a exaggerated response and such type of picture develops. This is not a injection abscess.

At this stage regular cleaning with betadine lotion should help in gradually subsiding this infected scar.

Hope the query is answered
Thanks
