Insect Bite On The Thigh, Red, Pus, Red Lines Running Around It. Matter Of Concern?
I have a red bug/insect bite on my thigh. It looks like there is pus in it (like a pimple ). Red vein-like lines run from the center of the bite to an inch outside of it. It s red and lumpy. Should I be worried? (I ve also gotten numerous other bites on my neck and legs but none look as odd as this one.) Also, I used hydrogen peroxide in case it was infected. Thank you!
Thanks for writing in.
From the description mentioned above, the insect bite is getting infected as it has become red and lumpy.
I would recommend you to consult physician if it increases further more in size and cause fever and severe tenderness. In that case, lesion needs to be left open and cleaned up with antiseptic.
Meanwhile you can try calamine lotion to cool the surface affected. You can apply same lotion over other affected area also. I hope I have cleared your doubt.
